The Greasy Waitress Provides Vintage Fashion
My number one rule to looking untraceably stylishly is mixing. Mix high end with low end, American with Italian and of course new and old. I adore vintage. Adding a vintage brooch to a new dress or putting a modern blazer with a vintage dress simply makes me sigh with style induced joy.
Besides the usual thrift stores, vintage shops and your older relative’s closet, you can find some of these oldie goodies online. A new one I spotted is The Greasy Waitress on Etsy.com. I have never used them so I am not sure if they are reliable, but I love their site and their selection.
Sure
their tag line is a bit cheesy ("vintage finds to discerning
scenesters”) and the prices are no bargain, but they have some fabulous pieces.
Also, I like the way they advise the buyer on how to wear it in a modern way as
well as show the model wearing the garment in an outfit. This might be distracting
for some buyers, but I find it helpful and fun. If any reader gives them a
whirl, please let me know how the experience goes.
